I Didn't Plan This
This work was not planned. I simply rented a studio and invited the people closest to me. I wanted to leave something behind in that space.
In the past, I would carefully plan everything in advance, thinking, “This is how it should be.” It left my mind tangled and heavy. This time, I decided to let things flow. When they walked in, I felt nervous. The closer they were to me, the more I felt I had to prove something. But instead, I let them be who they were. We talked, laughed, and shared lighthearted memories, leaving some words unsaid.
I quietly captured their silent expressions. As I looked through the photographs, the faces I knew so well began to feel unfamiliar. There were emotions left unspoken, and distances formed without ever being addressed.
Perhaps this work is not a record of me photographing them, but a quiet trace of the time they left behind in me.
I didn’t plan it, but it remained. And now, I simply want to keep looking at those faces through photographs, as I continue to find what stays.
